The Wolf Cafe in Ballwin St. Louis Opens Taproom

The Wolf Cafe in Ballwin, a month after its 10th anniversary, officially cut the ribbon for a new taproom. It is located under the main cafe space. There are more in the works.

The Taproom

The Wolf’s Taproom features a variety of local beers, wines, New Jersey-style Pizza, an outdoor beer garden, as well as a selection of classic arcade games.

Large groups can comfortably sit in the spacious taproom, which has a mixture of high tops and long picnic tables. Local artists have hand-painted murals on the walls. There is also a TV that shows classic movies and sports.

The menu also includes pizzas and classic pub food like pretzels, beer cheese, and snack mix. You can also order to-go from the upstairs menu and bring them down to the taproom.

The Cocktail Lounge

The taproom is one of two new expansions. The next expansion is a cozy cocktail lounge that will open in late July.

Bob stated, “We want the cocktail bar to feel like a classic speakeasy.” “The goal of the project is to create something new and unlike anything else in West County.”

The lounge will be located adjacent to the taproom. It will feature velvet couches, dim lighting, and intimate seating. A rotating selection of classic cocktails will be available, as well as a few special craft cocktails.

The taproom and cocktail lounge has a separate entrance to the west of the building and elevator access from the top floors.

Sandwich with vegetable, tomato, smashed Avocado, sprouts, cucumber, and dill Havarti. Also available in multi-grain bread, tarragon Dijonnaise, and organic spinach.

The Background

Although the taproom was in development since 2019, the pandemic stopped progress. Bob Biribin, the owner, says that while we have wanted to expand for many years, we knew we wouldn’t be able to open multiple locations. “The downstairs space was empty and we thought it would be the next step.”

Bob and Denise Biribin purchased The Wolf Cafe from its former owners in 2012. Their goal was to create a community gathering spot with organic food options and a strong focus on sustainability. This community-oriented cafe has a varied menu and was awarded top honors by STL Green Dining Alliance for its sustainability efforts. The entire taproom and cocktail bar venture, like the Wolf Cafe upstairs, is sustainable and zero-waste.
